masterjakestudios Sometimes, we rummage through the junk of the past to confront even the most unsavoury memories head-on. Sometimes, we can decide to have a little rest stop in the middle, too. Favorite track: Alike To Ruin.

(spoken) it's interesting. ideas that become so powerful in your mind and your consciousness they seem real to you even before they become tangible. imagination that becomes so strong that you can actually see it. when i built my first home for my family in idaho all those years ago, before i started construction on this home i used to take my friends and associates out to the vacant property and take them on a tour through the house. is that possible? is it possible to take someone on a tour through an imaginary house, and the answer is, yes. i used to say "this is the three car garage" and the guy would look and say "yes, this garage will hold three cars". i could really make it real, make it live. i would take them on a tour through the house, "here's the fireplace, and this fireplace is brick on one side and it's stone on the other side". i could make it real, "here's the rest of the house, here's the kitchen with this view window", and they would look out the window as i took them on this tour. one day i made this house so real one of my friends bumped his elbow on the fireplace, it was that real. so imagination, we call it nothing simply because it's nothing in terms of being tangible, but it is so real it's almost real. so the first step is to imagine the possibilities. imagine the possibilities; one of the reasons for seminars and sermons and the lyrics from songs and testimonials of others is to give us an idea of the possibilities.

Makebelieve 05:01
overgrowth, toadstools and stars on pulleys hopscotch, butterflies and shopping trolleys this place is a mess, this place never ends no one comes back in a hurry i makedo, when i makebelieve i makeout like i didn't hear that i makeup, after poor decisions i makeout that it never happened chalk dust, a mber rust and underage tree roots, garbage chutes and a scrapbook page this place falls apart, this place is my heart no one gets past my ribcage i makedo, when i makebelieve i makeout like i didn't hear that i makeup, after poor decisions then run and hide from the searchlight

hush now, sit still pay attention to the footsteps control your breathing, else it echoes down now, underneath a rabbithole behind barbed wire where ever you go no one knows let time fade over you and let shade cover you ace of spades, masquerades through and through

Pitterpatter 05:13
what do you think a raindrop thinks as it plummets toward the ground does it miss the ocean where things were simpler or does it blame the cloud as it falls with friends dragged in the same mess all falling at different heights and speeds does it wish to die on a dying tree to leave a legacy

Bottlenecks 06:38
i'd had a shitty night, shitty people to deal with at the ironically named youth group "haven" you offered up a ride, a night i'd treasure for forever singing slim shady loud through half - drawn windows later in kmart, buying womens clothing and beck practically begging for cheap toys i somehow hadn't realised, i was slow, obtuse you'd only buy these things for me

Scrapbook 05:16
i'll document these thoughts behind piano and bury them in the scrapyard of my mind then once i've grown up more i'll return and laugh into past, say "i was blind" but there within that moment, i'll be wrong cause people are always changing all the time it's a new page and a new day and i'll write things about the last day there'll be whiteout over this phrase there'll be highlights over that phrase there'll be photos stuck with loose tape ones of good times made on good days not a lot, but enough to keep me smiling to wake me up again i might look back upon this little album i don't know what i'll be thinking though it doesn't matter, i just want to mention shye from in the past says "hello"

about

"scrapyard scrapbook is a concept album about burying thoughts and memories, and hiding from the past. the scrapyard is a symbol for the mind, a messy place of loose thoughts; the scrapbook is a symbol for the body, the parts of ourselves we display for others to see" - Shye
